Why you go to Dcon

Mainly, because of the hot women running around in their underwear. Oh, sure, tell your girlfriend you go there to buy cool games and play them in your hotel room while wearing your jammies. Whatever.

The real reason you seethe around this convention is the moderately attractive women in their spandex and/or fishnets and/or NOTHING AT ALL while you take pictures as you make excuses in your head about how next year you'll get the courage to ask one of them out.

Hmm. That's your business. Luckily, I don't have to worry about foolishness like that because I'm taken. However, because I'm such a swell guy (and they're paying me thousands of dollars to write this blog) I will post pictures of these scarlet A's as soon as return to C-town.

Keeps it real.

Barbie in a box

Stayed up until about 4 a.m. this morning, so naturally I was up after three hours of sleep. We didn't actually start moving until 11 a.m., though I've already got the startings of that "con feeling."

I hit the Exhibitor's Hall, or at least one of them this morning, and picked up a couple of shirts. One for myself, and of course one for the gf. The place was packed, though. Advice I learn and forget every year - go to the Dealer's Room early. Skip the crowds and buy your stuff before you're fighting through aisles of vendors like you were back in high school.

The best sighting today - a woman dressed as Barbie that's still wrapped in the box she came in. I would show you a picture, but I left that cable at home and won't be able to wow you fans reading at home until Monday at the earliest.

Got just one comment on the Dr. Who scarf. Someone who's into knitting herself stopped me in the food court and asked who made it for me. She's planning on making one yards and yards long. Mine's only about two yards long.

Stay tuned for more madness.

At the con, desperately hungry

This happens every Dragon*Con - I stay up til 2 a.m. and haven't had anything to eat since around 5 p.m. I'm already back in the hotel room, and I'm not willing to leave until I have at least three hours of sleep.

It's difficult here in geek land, but we get by - one day at a time. The reason for the hunger fest, of course, is that as soon as I arrived at the con, I started playing games. Yeah, so I've been playing board games for the past eight hours. Prophecy, Blue Moon City, we even played a little Illuminati.

But now I'm into my first Nattie Light of the night and will just crash without eating until the morning. Then it's Dealer's Room and art show. See ya there.

Where's my 'stache?

Greets, everybody, and welcome to the newest incarnation of the Ledger-Enquirer's Dragon*Con blog. This year, I hope to carouse, cajole and mainly just lounge around the con whilst taking pictures of amazing costumes and hot women. Hope you can join in on the ride.

First, though, I need to get some props for my Dr. Forrester costume - a winning ensemble that a good friend made for me last year. It takes a special something to truly become one of the Mads from "Mystery Science Theater 3000," and that means moustaches and partially dyed hair. Thankfully, I'll be heading to Party City this evening to acquire the necessary items before launching myself to Hotlanta for the four-day con.

In the meantime, enjoy the carefully selected art for this, my very first Dcon 2008 blog post. Remember, it's not laundry unless it's porn laundry.
